Windsor, Vt. — Henry H. Buckwold, of Windsor, passed away Wednesday, Feb. 8, 2017, surrounded by his loving family at the VA Hospital in White River Jct. Henry was born on Jan. 5, 1949, at APD in Lebanon, N.H. He was the son of Roger F. Buckwold and Rose (Powell) Buckwold of Canaan, N.H.

Henry grew up in Canaan, and was drafted to the US Army in 1967 to serve in the Vietnam War. He served in the 39th Engineer Combat Battalion and received 2 purple hearts for his service.  

Henry had a passion for the great outdoors and enjoyed hunting and fishing. Henry’s biggest passion in life was his three grandchildren. He enjoyed watching his oldest grandson, Dylan Rock, race his modified. Henry spent countless hours with his other two grandchildren, Piper and Jace, exploring nature. They were all very fortunate to be able to spend so much time with their “Grampy Hank.” They will all miss him dearly.  

Henry was extremely loved by his family. He leaves behind his mother, Rose Buckwold of Canaan; his daughter, Christie Grey and husband, Art of Enfield, N.H., his son, Thomas and wife, Shawna of Plainfield, N.H., his three grandchildren, Dylan Rock, Piper and Jace Buckwold; his siblings, Betty Mutney of Grantham, N.H,, Nancy Garland of Middletown, Conn., Charles Buckwold of Vero Beach, Fla., Lois Sanborn of Canaan, Walter Buckwold of Orange, N.H., Suzan Ignacio of Canaan, and Norman Buckwold of Canaan. Henry was predeceased by his father Roger and older brother Richard.  

There will be a celebration of life and luncheon on March 18, 2017, at the Canaan Hall beginning at 11 a.m. Please bring a scratch ticket and a great story to share.
