Bath, Maine — Elizabeth Lorraine Clay passed away on Tuesday, Jan. 24, 2017, at Winship Green Center for Health and Rehabilitation in Bath. She was surrounded by family at her time of death.

Lorraine, as she was commonly known, was born March 27,1928, in Springfield, Vt., to Arthur H Lockwood and Gertrude Eagan Lockwood and was raised on the family farm on Sketchewagh Trail. She graduated from Springfield High School in June of 1946 and married Ronald E Clay of Brownsville, Vt., on the 29th of that month. They worked the family dairy farm on Rush Meadow Road in Brownsville, and lived on Route 44 in their newly built house. Lorraine and Ronald had 2 sons, Richard and Arnold, who survive them. Ronald died on Jan. 6, 2008. Lorraine also worked at JJ Newberrys, the First National Store in Windsor and at the Hammondsville store in Reading. She enjoyed farming and hunting, as well as snowmobiling with the West Windsor Moonlighters Snowmobile Club. She was an active member of the Brownsville PM Club, the Young Adult Fellowship Group, and the Brownsville Community Church. She was an Auditor for the Town of West Windsor. Both Ronald and Lorraine lived in Brownsville until 2000 when they relocated to Windsor. She remained there until 2016 before relocating to Maine.

Lorraine was predeceased by her husband Ronald. She had six brothers, Francis, Raymond and Richard Lockwood, all pre-deceased, and is survived by Ronald Lockwood and his wife Tinah, Arthur Lockwood, Jr. and his wife Kathy and Allen Lockwood. Lorraine is also survived by sisters, Barbara Thomas and her husband Theodore, and Patricia Kenyon and her husband James. She is also survived by sons, Richard Clay (Donna) and Arnold Clay (Dale); six grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; and former daughter-in-law, Barbara Bernier of Brunswick, Maine.

The family wishes to extend special thanks to Pat Kenyon for her care of Lorraine and to Cyndy Kennerson, who visited Lorraine and kept her company with puzzles and engaging conversation for many days. Thanks also to Coastal Shores Assisted Living and Winship Green Center for Health and Rehabilitation for their loving and compassionate care of Lorraine.

Committal services will be held in the Spring in the Brownsville Cemetery in West Windsor.
