Hanover — The Hanover High diving team capped off its home campaign in a strong way on Sunday, winning the boys individual competition and taking second among the girls in a meet held at Dartmouth’s Alumni Gym pool.

The Marauders’ Kai Renshaw dominated a field of 11 boys, scoring 338.40 points for his 11 dives to win by nearly 100 points. Hanover’s Ben Hoffer was fifth at 202.40.

Bedford’s Aidan McGadden won the girls division with 271.70 points, just getting past Hanover’s Amelia Wallis (259.40). The Marauders’ Hazel Garrity-Hanchett was fourth (204.05). Wallis’ score made for a new Hanover team record.

All four members of the Hanover team qualified for the NHIAA state championship meet, which will be staged at the University of New Hampshire on Feb. 10.

Wrestling

Tigers Place Five at Pelham

Pelham, n.h. — Tyler Sharron won the 160-pound division and five Newport wrestlers placed in the top four of their classes at Saturday’s Daniel Gionet Memorial Tournament at Pelham High School.

Sharron took a pair of matches to win his division, defeating Campbell’s Marc Boomhower, 7-5, in the finals, a rematch of last year’s NHIAA Division III title tilt. Gavin Lovely was 2-1 for the day to finish runner-up at 182 pounds. Matt Hennig was third at 170 pounds, Dylan Palmer took third at 145 pounds and Mike Tremblay was fourth at 195 pounds for the Tigers’ other placements.

Newport coach Cole Boone said Sharron’s win over Boomhower could pay dividends when seeds for next month’s state tournament are announced.

“Tyler Sharron is continuing to have a great season,” Boone said in an email. “He’s always looking to take control of every match he is in by constantly pushing the pace.

“I was also happy to see Gavin Lovely rebound after a tough outing at Keene last weekend. He wasn’t feeling well that weekend, so it was nice to have him at full strength.”

Newport visits Franklin for a dual meet on Wednesday.

Men’s Squash

Dartmouth 5, Princeton 4

Princeton, n.j. — The ninth-ranked Big Green grabbed a one-point win over the No. 11 Tigers on Saturday, just the program’s second since the start of Ivy League play 60 years ago.

The win came on the heel of Dartmouth’s first win over Princeton last season in Hanover. The Big Green built Saturday’s decision on match wins from No. 1 Alvin Heumann, No. 5 Matt Giegerich, No. 6 Glen Brickman, No. 8 Brian Giegerich and No. 9 Drew Monroe. Brickman provided the match-clinching point with a come-from-behind 3-2 win over the Tigers Komron Shavegan.

The Big Green dropped Sunday’s match at Penn, 8-1, with No. 2 Carson Spahr recording the only Big Green victory. Former Lebanon High tennis standout Max Reed won at No. 8 for the Quakers in a 3-0 defeat of Dartmouth’s Brian Giegerich.
