It didn’t take the Knights long to regain their form during a 56-39 win.
Mount Royal led 20-6 after one quarter and 37-13 at the half, led by Andrew Normandin, who drained three of his four 3-pointers during the first two quarters.
It felt good for the Knights (3-3) to play again — and even better to win. After a 2-0 start, they’d lost three straight before the break.
“I was pushing the team to be prepared for this, so I’m happy with the results,” said Mount Royal coach Matt McMenaman. “We came out strong, grabbed the early lead and were able to (play) some different offensive looks.”
Alex Normandin added 12 points, Gus LaRose scored eight and Kolbe Bocko scored seven for the Knights, who host Newmarket on Friday.
Milton, n.h.
Hank Vincent had 10 points to lead Sunapee (1-4 league, 1-7 overall). Austin LeBlanc added nine points, and Sean Shisko and Nick Ducharme each chipped in eight points for the balanced Lakers attack.
Sunapee led 28-13 at halftime and survived a Nute run in the third quarter to get the victory.
“We haven’t played since before the Christmas break. It’s a good way to start the new year and next part of the season,” first-year Sunapee coach Timothy Puchtler said.
The Lakers host Concord Christian on Friday.
South Royalton
Howe scored at least 34 points for the fifth time this year for South Royalton (6-2).
Dalton McDougall added 20 points and Jacob Hewitt had 13 for the Royals, who led 55-14 at halftime.
South Royalton hosts Sharon on Friday in a rematch of the Phoenix’ 33-23 win in Sharon last Saturday.

Parker Smith scored 19 points, Nick O’Brien contributed 14 and Noah Spaulding added 11 for the Cards, who were trying to avenge last year’s quarterfinal loss.

Milton, n.h.
“I don’t know if it was maybe the bus ride, but it took us a while before we got in the right groove,” Sunapee coach Tim LaTorra said. “We got going off of our defense.”
The Lakers’ Sydney Clark scored 21 points and Faith Larpenter had 20, the latter contributing four of the team’s season-best eight 3-pointers.
Mary Grzanna (11 points) and Kalleigh Durkee (10) also reached double figures for Sunapee.
The Lakers host Concord Christian on Friday.
Hanover 41, Kingswood 36
Hanover
Freshman Willa Parkins had a career-high nine points along with 12 rebounds to lead Hanover. Julia Golder also had nine points. Maddie McCorkle added eight points, and Diana Schwarz chipped in seven. The Marauders led 15-8 after the first quarter but had to rally from a 3-point deficit in the fourth quarter to prevail.
“It was one of those ugly games where we had to will our way to victory,” Hanover coach Dan O’Rourke said. “We were able to stay with it. You have to win those sort of games now and then.”
The Marauders (5-4 overall, 4-2 NHIAA) host Souhegan on Friday night.
South Royalton
Bailey Wing drove to the basket in the final seconds with the score tied at 46-46 and missed a layup. Hudson was there to snag the rebound and beat the clock for the game-winner. Grace Pease led the Royals with 13 points. Wing added 11, Emma Hudson had 10 and Iris Hudson finished with seven.
“We didn’t warm up well, but we somehow built a big lead. We came out (after halftime) lackadaisical, and we didn’t take care of the ball,” South Royalton coach Dave Davis said about the Bucks’ big comeback in the second half.
The Royals (3-3) host Mid Vermont Christian on Saturday.
Sharon
Grace Dorman and Mallory Lloyd both scored 15 points for Sharon, which trailed by 15 in the third quarter before pulling within two in the fourth.
“We just kept chipping away,” Sharon coach Gregg Nalette said. “We just couldn’t get over the hump. Overall, it was our best effort all season.”
Jocelyn Johnson added 10 points for the Phoenix, which visit Trinity on Friday.

Alexis Aiken led Stevens with 10 points. Jenna Pond added five points. The Cardinals visit Con-Val on Friday night.
Winchenden, Mass.
“We peppered him all night and tried everything,” Lebanon-Stevens coach Gary Smith said. “The puck was like a beach ball for him tonight.”
The Raiders overcame a pair of one-goal deficits, scoring their first power-play goal late in the first period when Ian Garland beat Kirby on assists from Nate Gariepy and Aaron Damren to make it 1-1.
After Lebanon-Stevens fell behind 2-1 early in the second, Damren, a sophomore, scored his first career goal on a feed from Nate Chickering to tie it 2-2.
Nate Damren’s power-play goal came on an assist from Gariepy with 5:17 to play, but the Raiders had to stave off two ConVal-Conant power plays in the final minutes.
“Our penalty kill came up huge,” Smith said. “They didn’t get it into the offensive zone.”
Jordan Hammond made 14 saves for the Raiders (5-4; 4-3 NHIAA Division II).
Lebanon-Stevens hosts Merrimack on Saturday.
Meriden
KUA got a pair of goals from defensemen in quick succession late in the second period to take the lead. Dillon Munson scored the first and Bryce Dolan followed with what turned out to be the game-winner. Goalie Sean Dynan stopped a breakaway attempt and played a part in killing a 5-on-3 power play in the third period to keep KUA in front.
The Wildcats host Governor’s Academy on Friday.
West Canaan
Andrew Florence-Mitchell (138) and Raven Streeter (195) got wins via forfeit for Mascoma, while the Royals’ Mike Merrihew (160) and Tyler Bill (285) won with first-period pins. Sheldon Farnsworth (182) added a victory by decision.
Mascoma (2-5) wrestles on Saturday in a 12-team tournament hosted by Winnisquam.
Plymouth, n.h.
Newport’s John Hogan pinned Thias Silva to win 8-1 at 170 pounds. The Tigers’ Tyler Sharron beat Garrett Macedonia 2-0 at 182 pounds. Newport competes at the Daniel Gionet Memorial Tournament on Saturday at Pelham High School.
Andover, n.h.
Hanover placed five jumpers in the top 19 in the final standings. Sam Strohbehn led the way in fourth place followed by Nathan Winter in ninth. Sawyer Hanlon finished 11th and Dimitri Somoff was 16th. Sabin Mitchell took 19th overall, but first overall amongst the competing girls.
Will Austin led fourth-place Sunapee with a second-place finish. The Lakers’ team score was rounded out by Cameron Summerton (13th), Carson Garland (14th) and Parker Reed (15th).
Sean Maloney, of Kennett, won in part to one jump of 36 meters, the longest of the night.
“I’m very impressed with the way the kids handled this hill. It’s the biggest we’ve jumped so far this year. The conditions were a bit intimidating; it was very icy due to the melting and freezing cycles we’ve been having,” Hanover coach Tom Dodds said.
The Marauders look forward to a home meet on Jan. 25.
Bedford, n.h.
Former longtime Manchester Central coach Jim Schubert will lead the West team, which includes five players from the local area. Hanover sends three players: lineman Schuyler Cyrus, wide receiver/safety Cameron Marshall and running back/cornerback Reed Winter. Speedy Lebanon running back Ryan Milliken and Stevens wide receiver/safety Parker Smith were also named to the team.
