Ruth Stewart

Jonesport, Maine — “Spankey” Ruth Stewart was born Aug. 5, 1940, and slipped away into the arms of her Savior on Thursday, Jan. 5 2017, after a period of declining health.

She was predeceased by her beloved husband, Roy and daughter, Willow. She leaves behind a son, John, his wife, Marie and granddaughter, Haily who she loved spending time in the kitchen with. She also leaves behind a daughter, Kerri. She was also close with her niece, Kim and her family — husband, Peter and grandnephews, Isaac, Caleb, and Logan, nephew, Jamie, his wife, Stephanie and their children, Evan, Finn, and Piper. She considered these children to be her own grandkids and never missed an opportunity to spoil them. She leaves behind a sister, Terri Joyce and her husband, Rick; nephew, Tim and his family; and many extended friends and family, especially her dear friend, Marcia Skeate who was with her until the end.

Spankey enjoyed knitting, quilting, cooking and baking. For many years she had a cake decorating business and taught classes in her home. She found solace on the Schooner Roseway with her husband and they spent many weeks sailing the coast of Maine and beyond. She worked as an LPN for decades and spread her love and care to every resident that had the pleasure of meeting her. She was a gardening expert and in her later years enjoyed collecting and sharing day lilies.

A memorial service will be held at the United Church of Cornish on 378 Center Rd., Cornish, N.H. on Saturday, Jan. 14, 2017, at 2 p.m.
