Rutland
The Yellowjackets’ Brandyn LaBarron, Tatyana Malikowski and Troy McCabe all struck out as part of nine consecutive Windsor strikes during the third-place Baker playoff win over Hartford, helping the Jacks roll a Vermont record 270 during the game.
The Yellowjackets exceeded the previous VPA high of 268, set last year by Essex.
“I knew we were close, but I couldn’t remember if (the Hornets’ previous record) was 268 or 278,” Windsor coach Steve Bly said. “Myself and assistant coach Rusty Comstock were talking about it and then Vern Seaver (coach of host Fair Haven) came over and congratulated us for it. We’re a young team, so it was good to see results like this, even though we didn’t win.
LaBarron’s two preliminary scores were 213 and 204, the 417 total a career high for the senior. McCabe bowled 149-147—296 and Malikowski 136-135—271 in the preliminary rounds.
Joey Raymond bowled a team-high 176 in the preliminary rounds for Hartford, which fell to eventual winner Fair Haven in the first round of the Baker tournament.
The Hurricanes visit St. Johnsbury next Saturday, while Windsor bowls at Stevens.

Howe came in averaging 31 points per game this season and was the obvious focus of the Sharon defense. Senior Billy Connelli led the effort to slow the potent SoRo guard.

“They’re one of the best teams in D-II by far, and we just weren’t quite ready to match them yet,” Raiders coach Gary Smith said. “We did a lot of the little things well today, and if we can keep improving in those areas I believe we can get to the level where Keene’s at.”
