Meriden — Paul McAuliffe’s second-period goal made the difference on Thursday as the Kimball Union Academy boys hockey team defeated New Hampton, 2-1.

McAuliffe picked up the rebound from a shot by teammate Bryce Dolan to give the Wildcats a 2-0 lead before New Hampton scored in the third.

KUA’s Jordan Harris scored a power-play goal in the first. Hugo Turcotte was in goal for the Wildcats (16-2).

Girls Hockey KUA 5, Brewster 2

Meriden — Five different Wildcats scored on Wednesday as Kimball Union won its first game following a two-week break.

Lexi Nottke, Mia Brown, Annie McKeown, Greta Close and Kyra Russman scored for KUA (6-2).

Seana Perkins was in goal for the Wildcats, who visit Canterbury on Saturday and Millbrook School on Sunday.

Boys Basketball Williamstown 74, Rivendell 42

Orford — William Carey scored 19 points as Williamstown handled Rivendell (1-3).

“Tough game,” Rivendell coach Jeff Huntington said. “That’s why they’re in the finals every year. They’re very disciplined, they have a lot of seniors and they move up and down the court very well.”

Owen Pelletier led Rivendell with 21 points, followed by Shane Smith with eight. The Raptors visit Blue Mountain on Saturday.

Unified Basketball John Stark 34, Hanover 24

Weare, n.h. — Avery Hunnewell scored 22 points in Hanover’s season-opening loss. The Marauders host Bow on Monday.
