Grantham, N.H. — Thomas Henry Simon, age 84, passed away on Friday, Dec. 30, 2016 in Grantham, NH.

He is survived by his wife Carolyn, his children John Simon and Diane Szaflarski of Bethlehem, Pa. and Jane and Joe Fritz of Cincinnati, Ohio, grand-children Joey Fritz, Evan Simon and Alec Simon, and step-children Bo

Blackburn, Luke Blackburn and Lucy Blackburn, and his trusted Golden Retriever, Nugget.

He is preceded in death by wives Sally Sussler Simon and Jean Dalury Simon.

Tom Simon was born on May 17, 1932 in Cincinnati to Jean and Louis Simon. He graduated from Walnut Hills High School in Cincinnati in 1950, Brown University in 1954 with a degree in Philosophy and completed a MAin History from Xavier University in Cincinnati in 1987. He was President of Schaefer Tailoring Company inCincinnati until 1976 when he founded People, Places and Things, a company he led until 2014.

Tom was an avid reader of American History with a particular interest in the Colonial Period. He was a lover of the outdoors, spending his summer days on the lakes and rivers of New Hampshire. He was a staunch supporter of Brown University, Camp Coniston, and an active instructor in the ILEAD program at Dartmouth College. He believed in the power of education and dedicated his efforts to help those less fortunate than himself. He enjoyed life to its fullest, bringing a sense of humor to all he did.

Marshall, Brown Development Office, Box 1893, Providence, RI 02912) or YMCA Camp Coniston (John Tilley, Camp Coniston, PO Box 185, Grantham 03753). A family memorial service will be held at a later date.
