Claremont, N.H. — Virginia Q. Fontaine, 88, of Claremont, died on Saturday, Dec. 24, 2016, at Cedar Hill in Windsor, Vt.

She was born in Woburn, Mass. on Oct. 8, 1928, the daughter of Edward and Esther (Walker) Quimby.

She had worked for local woolen mills.

She and her husband, Norman owned Belfon Machine Co., Inc. located in Claremont in 1969 and is now run by her daughter, Janet and her husband, Richard.

She was a vibrant woman with such a generous heart that had so much love for all her family and friends. Heaven truly received a “special” Angel.

The family includes her daughters, Joan Nichols and her husband, Frank and Janet Royce and her husband, Richard; three grandchildren, Heidi Melcher, Megan Maple and Craig Royce and his wife, Catherine; five great-grandchildren, Ryan Melcher, Andrew Royce, Cole Miller, Hanna Royce and Nathan Maple; two great-great-grandchildren, Tucker and Liam Royce; sisters-in-law, Eda McCallister and Betty Quimby; also many nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by husband, Norman E. Fontaine on Jan. 6, 1992; sister, Veronica Carrol; and brothers, Edward Quimby and Henry Leroy Quimby.

A memorial service will be held at the Stringer Funeral Home, 146 Broad Street in Claremont on Friday, Dec. 30 at 11 a.m. Visiting hours will be held from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. prior to the service.

Interment will be held privately in Elkins Cemetery in the spring.
