Randolph, Vt. — Velma B. Wright, 92, of Randolph, died Monday, Dec. 26, 2016, at Menig Extended Care Facility in Randolph Center.

She was born Aug. 4, 1924, in Hanover, N.H.; the daughter of Paul L. and Esther (Miles) Morrison. She was raised in North Hartland and graduated from Hartford High School. Velma was married to Freeman Wright on Feb. 24, 1945 in North Hartland, and had lived in Danville, Passumpsic, and Lyndonville before moving to Randolph in 2008. Velma had worked for the S&H Green Stamps Store in White River Junction then Purina in St. Johnsbury. She and her husband wintered in Florida for many years. She served on the North Hartland school board, and was a member of the Eastern Star. Active in church life, Velma had been a member of Hartland UCC Church, Danville UCC Church, Lyndonville Methodist Church, and Bethany Church in Randolph. She had volunteered for the Randolph Food Bank, and enjoyed the outdoors and gardening.

Survivors include her daughter, Sharon Needham and husband Warren of Bethel; five grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband in 2002, and son John Alan Wright.

Memorial Services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 7, 2017, at Bethany United Church of Christ in Randolph, with Rev. Kimberly McKerley, officiating. There are no calling hours. Burial will be in the Spring at the Hartland Village Cemetery.
