Richford, Vt. — Eight different scorers provided the Oxbow High boys basketball team with the offensive explosion it had been looking for as the Olympians took down Richford, 81-57, on Thursday to jump to 2-1 this season.

“That’s kind of how we play,” Oxbow head coach Steve Carson said. “We don’t rely on any one scorer. We try to play team ball.”

Matt Towle led the way for the Olympians with 25 points, including two 3-pointers. Orin Mahikoa had 13 points, Lincoln Illsley scored 16 and Ben Emerson had 12 in what quickly turned into a lopsided affair.

Oxbow scored 32 points in the first quarter and outscored Richford 51-25 in the first half, leaving Carson impressed.

“Orin Mahikoa was huge rebounding for us in the second quarter,” he said. “Jacob Stimson brings us a lot of energy off the bench with his defense and hustle.”

The Olympians travel to Rivendell on Tuesday.
