Claremont, N.H. — Stanley J. Karpinski, 87, of Claremont passed away on Thursday, Dec. 15, 2016, at Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center with his family by his side.

Stan was born on July 3, 1929, in North Walpole, the son of Stanley and Eva Karpinski.

He graduated from Bellows Falls High School and later from the University of New Hampshire.

Stan was in the U.S. Army and then in the Army Reserves. He served at the end of the Korean War and after 30 years, retired as a Colonel. He also worked as a pharmaceutical salesman for more than 25 years; traveling all over New England.

Stan loved to play with his grandchildren, Sophia, Ava, Nate and Noah. He also enjoyed reading and watching the Red Sox and Patriots and following UNH Football.

Stan is survived by his son, Stanley Karpinski and his wife, Cara of Chesapeake, Va.; his daughter, Kori Costa and her husband, Sal of Hanover, N.H.; his son, Adam Karpinski and his wife, Amy of Buckingham, Pa.; seven grandchildren including Chris, Phil and Hailey; his sisters, Arlene Marro of Claremont, Phyllis Martin of Newport and Claire Barbieri and her husband, Bruce of Glastonbury, Conn.

He was predeceased by his wife, Eudora Karpinski in 2012.

Visiting hours will be held at the Stringer Funeral Home, 146 Broad Street in Claremont on Tuesday, Dec. 20 from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m.

A mass of Christian burial will be held at St. Joseph Church in Claremont at 11 a.m. with Father Shawn Therrien officiating. Burial will follow in Sacred Heart Cemetery in Bellows Falls, Vt.
