Corinth — A Newbury, Vt., man is facing several charges after police say he threatened people with a firearm in Corinth before leading officers on a 5-mile chase.

Jason Cuthbertson, 27, was charged with driving while intoxicated, attempting to elude a police officer, careless and negligent operation, reckless endangerment, disorderly conduct and violation of an abuse prevention order on Tuesday, according to a Vermont State Police news release.

Troopers responded to a Corinth home around 1 a.m. on Thursday after receiving a report that Cuthbertson was threatening residents with a gun.

Although Cuthbertson left the scene before officers could arrive, he was found driving a maroon PT Cruiser on Turkey Hill Road. Police say he refused to stop and led troopers on a 5-mile pursuit that ended in a driveway on Eagle Hollow Road.

Cuthbertson was held at the Northeast Correctional Complex in St. Johnsbury on $1,600 bail. He was set to appear in Orange Superior Court on Tuesday. The results of his hearing were not available.
