Hartford, Vt. —
He was born in New York City, the son of Ernest and Ella (Pinter) Tisza. His wife of 60 years, Pamela P. Tisza of Hanover, N.H. died in 2015.
Mr. Tisza was a graduate of Amherst College and the University of Virginia Law School. During World War II, he was the executive officer on U.S. Navy landing ships in the South Pacific, earning the rank of lieutenant commander. He remained a member of the Naval Reserve for many years.
He was an attorney specializing in railroad law. He was also a history buff, an activist in local Democratic politics in New Jersey, a daily reader of the New York Times and a lover of puns, good and bad.
Before moving to Valley Terrace in 2015, he had lived at The Greens in Hanover, N.H., for three years after four decades in Neshanic Station, N.J.
He was cared for in the last years of his life by his devoted wife and after her death by the dedicated staff at Valley Terrace.
He is survived by two sisters-in-law, Barbara Perkins and Rosemary Perkins, both of Massachusetts and Enfield, N.H, by a brother-in-law, and by nephews and nieces including Charles Perkins and Linda Burroughs of Enfield and Catherine Perkins of Lebanon.
There are no calling hours. Mr. Tisza will be buried in a private service in Bridgewater, Mass.
