Farmville, Va. — Isaiah Walton had 23 points and four assists, Khris Lane scored 20 with 10 rebounds and Longwood held off Dartmouth for a 65-59 men’s basketball win on Monday night.

Longwood’s Darrion Allen had 14 points, including three 3-pointers, while Kendrick Thompson scored nine with seven assists — both career highs.

Lane hit a jumper and made layup and Allen hit two 3s during an 11-1 run that gave Longwood (2-3) the lead for good and made it 54-45 with 13:12 left. Dartmouth pulled within three, 78-75, on a layup by Guilien Smith with 33 seconds to go, but Walton scored six and Allen hit two free throws from there to seal it.

Smith and Evan Boudreaux scored 21 points apiece for Dartmouth (0-4). It was a career high for Smith, who had eight points and an assist in the last 48 seconds. Boudreaux grabbed nine rebounds.

Longwood hit a season-high 12 3-pointers.

Dartmouth made just 17-of-28 (60.7 percent) free throws.

Colby-Sawyer 90, Plymouth State 82

New London — Jourdain Bell scored a career-high 33 points to lead Colby-Sawyer (2-2) over Plymouth State (2-2) in the Chargers’ home opener.

Bell, who led all players with 10 rebounds, went 10-for-12 from the free throw line and added four assists and four steals. Teammate Milani Hicks scored 25 points on efforts of 7-of-11 from the floor and 9-of-11 from the line.

Women’s HockeyDartmouth 4, Maine 0

Orono, Maine — Dartmouth (2-5-0) shut out Maine (3-12-1) in its first game in two weeks.

Freshman Christina Rombaut led Dartmouth with a goal and an assist, and teammates Brooke Ahbe, Rose Falzone and Bailee Brekke also scored. Eleni Tebano, Mackenzie St. Onge and Caroline Shaunessy added assists.

Goalie Robyn Chemago (31 saves) earned her first shutout of the season and the seventh of her career.

The Big Green outshot the Black Bears, 34-31, and was 1-for-5 on the power play.

The teams return to action tonight.
