Hanover — The Dartmouth College football team placed two players on the All-Ivy League first place on Tuesday, and wide receiver Hunter Hagdorn was named Ivy Rookie of the Year.

Big Green offensive lineman Dave Morrison and linebacker Folarin Orimolade made the first team, and Hagdorn made the second team along with safety Charlie Miller and defensive lineman Nick Tomkins.

Hagdorn finished the season second in the league in both receptions (56) and yardage (706), smashing Dartmouth freshman records in the process. Hagdorn also averaged nearly 20 yards on 14 kick returns.

Morrison, a 6-5, 315-pound right tackle, anchored an offensive line that helped the Big Green rank second in the league in total offense and first in passing while yielding a league-low 13 sacks.

Orimolade, who was named a finalist for the Buck Buchanan Award as the Football Championship Subdivision’s top defensive player, backed up his preseason All-America status by leading the Ivy League in sacks (9.0) and forced fumbles (5) while finishing second in tackles for a loss (14.5) and fifth in tackles (83).

Miller played in nine games, starting eight, recording 41 tackles,, a pair of interceptions and five passes broken up.

Tomkins, a 6-3, 270-pound junior, led all of Dartmouth’s defensive linemen with 37 tackles, five for a loss, and three sacks.

Six other Big Green players earned honorable mention: senior nickelback Lucas Bavaro, senior defensive linemen Brandon Cooper and Zach Husain, junior linebacker Eric Meile, sophomore offensive lineman Matt Kaskey and sophomore running back Miles Smith.

Princeton’s Bob Surace was tabbed as the Ivy League Coach of the Year after guiding the Tigers to a share of the conference crown.

Women’s BasketballColby-Sawyer 75, Suffolk 57

 

New London — Sunapee High graduate Lexie Hamilton scoired 18 points and Lexi Iannone had 20 points as Colby-Sawyer (2-1) defeated Suffolk (2-2).

 

 

 

Hamilton added eight assists, six rebounds and three steals. Freshman Chelsea Dow, of White River Junction, had 11 points and five assists.

 

H,S. BasketballKehoe Scrimmage Next Week

West Canaan — Mascoma Regional High will host its Hoop It Up For Kehoe girls scrimmages next Tuesday at 4 p.m. The games benefit the Kehoe Fund, named for Ed Kehoe, the late Mascoma and Hartford girls coach.

The games will feature teams from Mascoma, Sunapee, Lebanon, Kearsarge and Newport.

Donations to the Kehoe Fund will be accepted at the door.
