Bethel — Vermont State Police are investigating a rash of vehicle break-ins in Bethel that likely occurred early Friday morning.

Meanwhile, the Royalton Police Department has issued an announcement to residents urging them to lock their vehicles — even in their own driveways — given the recent activity.

“Please do not leave unattended valuable items in your vehicles for criminals to have possible access to,” the Royalton department wrote on its Facebook page on Friday.

Drug users looking for property or cash may be fueling the break-ins, police said.

Those with information about the incidents in Bethel are urged to call Vermont State Police at 802-234-9933. Royalton police are advising the public to report any suspicious activity.
