Burlington — Vermont jumped on Dartmouth early and often, scoring three times on its first 10 shots in a little more than 10 minutes en route to a 5-2 nonconference men’s hockey victory on Tuesday night at Gutterson Field House.

Chris Muscoby, Ross Colton and Mario Puskarich struck in the opening 10:09 of the game, chasing starting Big Green netminder Devin Buffalo. Dartmouth (2-2-2) had to play catch-up hockey from there but never got closer than within two goals of the lead.

Puskarich added a second goal, scored on backup Dartmouth netminder Adrian Clark, to give the Catamounts (6-3-1) a 4-0 lead at the first intermission. Clark finished with 11 saves for the Big Green.

Alex Jasiek scored his first goal of the season to get Dartmouth on the board at 1:48 of the second period. Will Graber also notched his first goal of the year for the Big Green at 8:12 of the third to get the visitors to within 4-2, but Colton set the final margin with his second goal of the evening just 37 seconds later.

Dartmouth takes a break for Thanksgiving, returning to action with two games at Robert Morris on Nov. 26-27, the latter of which will be played at PPG Paints Arena in Pittsburgh.

Women’s HockeyChemago Goalie of the Week

Albany, n.y. — A busy one-win, one-loss weekend highlighted by a ton of saves netted Dartmouth goaltender Robyn Chemago the ECAC Hockey League’s goaltender of the week award on Tuesday.

The Big Green fell to No. 8 Quinnipiac on Friday, 2-1, and beat No. 10 Princeton, 3-2, on Saturday, with Chemago playing every minute of both contests. After stopping 33 shots against the Bobcats, Chemago followed with a 45-save effort in a win over the Tigers decided by senior Eleni Tebano’s goal with 57 left in regulation.

The victory was Dartmouth’s first of the season as well as the first for new coach Laura Schuler. The honor is the third for Chemago, who received similar accolades early last season.

The Big Green is off until a two-game set at Maine on Nov. 28-29.
