New London, N.H. — Richard J. Eaton, 80, of Hilltop Place, died Saturday, Nov. 5, 2016, at Mountain Ridge Center in Franklin, N.H.

He was born in Northampton, Mass. on March 12, 1936, the son of Warner and Grace (Landry) Eaton.

He graduated from Northampton High School and Holy Cross College. Dick served in the U.S. Air Force for four years and was stationed in Washington, D.C.

He had worked in Human Resources for General Motors, ITEK Corp. in Rochester, N.Y. and retired in 1997 from Augat in North Attleboro, Mass., a company specializing in electrical components.

Dick summered in Sunapee since the 60’s and retired here permanently in 1997 later moving to New London and Vero Beach, Fla.

He was a member of St. Andrew Episcopal Church in New London, the Lake Sunapee Yacht Club, the Baker Hill Golf Club and served on the Yacht Club Board and the Abbott Library Board. He was a member of St. James, Burkehaven where he served as Chair for several years.

Dick enjoyed traveling, playing bridge, golfing, reading and especially life on the lake. He was an avid Patriots and Red Sox Fan.

He was predeceased by a brother, Robert. Members of his family surviving include his wife of 57 years, Susanne (Wilson) Eaton of New London and Vero Beach; a daughter and her husband, Kate and Steve Jenkins of Richmond, Va.; a son and his wife, Gregg and Bonnie Eaton of Tampa, Fla.; and four grandchildren, Parker, Abby and Hannah Jenkins and Emma Eaton.

Dick’s life will be celebrated at the 5 p.m. service of Holy Communion this Saturday, Nov. 12 at St. Andrew’s Episcopal Church in New London. A fuller Celebration of Life will be held in Vero Beach in March 2017.
