Wilder, Vt. — Ronald Leamon Wilmot, 77, of Wilder, passed away Tuesday, Nov. 1, 2016, following a rapid decline in a long and debilitating illness.

Ronald was born in East Thetford, Vt. on May 27, 1939, to Leamon Wilmot and Ida (Smith) Wilmot. He grew up in several small towns in New Hampshire and Vermont. Ron went to school in North Thetford and later attended technical school in West Virginia. He married Mary Lucinda Lambert of Lebanon, N.H. on June 29, 1968. Ronald and Mary moved to Stonecrest Avenue in Wilder in 1980 where they raised their two children. Ronald retired from Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center in 1996 after 25 years of service.

Ronald enjoyed spending time with his wife, walking his dog King, watching NASCAR races, the Red Sox and Patriots games, and paint by numbers.

The family would like to extend their gratitude to Bayada Home Health Care and the staff of Brookside Nursing Home.

Ronald is predeceased by his father, Leamon F. Wilmot, his mother, Ida L. (Smith) Hobbs, his stepfather, Verne A. Hobbs, his sister, Virginia R. Wilmot, and brother, Verne A. Hobbs.

Ronald is survived by his devoted wife of 48 years, Mary (Lambert) Wilmot; his two children, Ronald L. Wilmot, Jr. and wife, Laura of Bradford, Vt. and Mary Jane Wilmot and partner, Ray Wardwell of Woodstock, Vt.; his sister, June E. Burrington, of Quakertown, Pa.; his aunt, Alma Smith of Canaan, N.H.; as well as many nieces and nephews.

There will be no calling hours. Funeral services will be held at the Knight Funeral Home in White River Jct., Vt. Friday, Nov. 4at 10 a.m. with Pastor Joe Grabowski officiating.
