West Rutland, Vt. — Eric Maxham scored twice and Austin May added another as second-seeded West Rutland eliminated No. 6 Sharon from the Vermont Division IV boys soccer tournament on Wednesday with a 3-0 win.

West Rutland will play top-seeded Proctor for the title on Saturday at Whitcomb High in Bethel.

Sharon had to make a quick turnaround after Monday’s quarterfinal victory at Long Trail, a 1-1 draw followed by a 13-12 penalty kick triumph.

“It’s a disappointing way to end the season, but I’m proud the way the guys battled, even though they were running on empty,” TSA coach Rob Stainton said.

Thatcher Morrison made three saves in goal for Sharon, which graduates eight seniors.

Girls Soccer KUA 4, Holderness 2

Holderness, n.h. — Lebanon resident Taylor Soule notched two goals in a road win.

KUA’s record stands at 11-2-1, with New Hampton next on Saturday in Meriden.

Women’s Soccer Colby-Sawyer 2, Husson 1

Bangor, Maine — Colby-Sawyer defeated Husson in the NAC semifinals to reach its fifth straight league title match.

The third-seeded Chargers, winners of eight straight, will play for the title on Saturday.

Rachel Quaye and Molly MacLure scored for the Chargers, and freshman goalie Sam Mitchell had eight saves.

Women’s Volleyball Chargers Honored

New London — Colby-Sawyer senior Gabrielle Rodriguez and freshman Naarah Cox were elected to the North Atlantic Conference First team.

Freshman Aspen Kinley represented Colby-Sawyer on the sportsmanship team.

The Chargers will travel to Castine, Maine, on Friday to play Husson in the NAC semifinals.
