Hanover scored 86 points to take the runner-up podium spot behind Oyster River (34) in the boys team standings. Seventh-grader Riche Aman finished fifth over the 2-mile course at Londonderry High School, clocking a time of 11 minutes, 40.08 seconds. Sam Murray (11th, 12:00), Daniel Frost (15th, 12:24), Jack Lang (21swt, 13:01) and Derek Lacy (34th, 13:22) completed the scoring for Hanover, which also put Cam Riordan and Adam Gilbert-Diamond on the course.
The Hanover girls had the minimum of five runners to post a team score, placing 10th with 220 points. Caroline Loescher led Hanover by placing 18th in 14:00.15. Sarah Glueck (20th, 14:01), Meg Frost (52nd, 14:53), Bridget Meehan (65th, 15:06) and Bella Hyser (70th, 15:19) completed Hanover’s scoring.
Amherst won the girls team crown with 45 points.
Woodstock
The event begins and ends at Woodstock Elementary School, with an awards ceremony following immedately after the race on the Woodstock green. Participants may register for the race on Nov. 23 from 4-6 p.m. at WES or on the day of the race, starting at 8 a.m. The race gets going at 10 a.m.
The cost is $30 if preregistered online by Nov. 22 at 5 p.m., going up to $35 through the day of the race. All preregistered participants are guaranteed a commemorative T-shirt. Organizers are also asking those involved to bring a nonperishable donation for the local food pantry on race day.

Bedford, 53, broke the New England standard in the men’s age 50-54 division in the 100-meter breaststroke with a time of 1 minutes, 14.37 seconds. He also set three other meets marks in the 50 freestyle, 25 backstroke and 200 individual medley, fronting the efforts of 15 UVRays team members at the meet.
The Rays’ Sheila Flanigan snapped the 200 IM meet record for women 50-54 (3:10:59), and Jim Larrck took down the 25 free record (12.44) among men 35-39. The Rays’ June Carson broke two records on Saturday among women 65-69, in the 400 free (6:24.46) and 50 breast (48.43).
Rhode Island’s Diann Uustal had the highlight performance of the meet. Competing among women 70-74, Uustal broke national records in the 100 IM (1:24.30) and 100 back (1:24.93) and came within 3/100 of a second of beating the standard in the 50 back (38.93).
Newport
International standards require a student to be 16 years old to receive a full black belt rating; those younger have a colored stripe running the length of their belts, which is what Baker, 10, earned for her performance at recent evaluations. Baker has been training since the age of 3.
Hebert earned probationary first-degree black belt status last year before moving up earlier this month. He’s been training the past four years.
Gallup, who holds black belts in karate and the weapons training discipline called kobudo, was promoted to probationary fourth-degree black belt status at the ceremony. She has been involved in the martial arts since 2001 and is just the second Rising Sun student to receive fourth-degree black belt recognition.
Lebanon
Seven different UVRC competitors found the try zone as the Mountain Men improved to 6-2 on their inaugural season. Taylor Harned and Adam Barczewski offered multiple tries for the Mountain Men, while Peter Dimilia, Matt Kier, Tyler Morin, Zac Conoway, Kevin Shaw, Dusty Carter and Brian Frampton also scored.
Upper Valley looks to secure a top-two seed in the upcoming league tournament when they play the Boston Rugby Club’s second side in Boston on Saturday.
Somerville, Mass.
Valeo scored twice early, but LSC goals from Kai Kurokawa, Beckett Sobel and Noah Winchester kept the Flames competitive. Landon Kingsbury also had astrong game on attack for LSC, while Logan Isham held up well in the Flames’ goal.
Meriden
Synergy attacked early and often, but the Fire countered with high pressure that disrupted Synergy’s possession plans. Defense and passing from Hugh Clark, Richie Aman, Seth Carl and Becket McCurdy kept the Fire in good shape.
LSC finally broke through just before halftime, with Tucker Chapman freeing Daniel Mladek with a pass over the defense for Mladek to finish inside the far post. Palmer Okai and Spencer Lawe kept the defense organized from there, and goalie Jack Maynes added a couple of late saves to preserve the shutout.
Meriden
Eleanor Edson had a big two-way game in the Bugs’ 1-1 tie with Seacoast. Edson had a strong first half in goal, then came out to score the Bugs’ goal after the interval.
The Sparks blanked Seacoast United Admirals, 1-0. Mary Rainey scored the goal, and goalies Mo McBride and Emma Powers shared the shutout.
Newington, Conn.
Hanover opened with a 6-0 vistory behind goals from Ty Gwatkin, Corwith Simmers, Lachlan Simmers, Spencer Lawe and Cam Gwatkin (two goals). Ben Plottner and Mica McGinley-Smith split the clean sheet.
The Wild made it two for two later in the day in a 3-0 decision over the Caps. Lachlan Simmers, Ty Gwatkin and Oliver Hamilton scored. Defensemen Kyle Smith, Bridger Close, Jack Gardner, Miles Oberting, Augie Oberting and Oliver Huntington all contributed to the back-to-back shutout with their play in front of the goal.
White River Junction
Sponsored by the Hartford Parks and Recreation Department, the camp is for boys in grades 9-12 and will run the week of Nov. 7-11 from 4-5 p.m. Players will tune up for the coming season by learning to work more effectively in small spaces.

The UVHA Termites program, which begins on Nov. 7, serves as the association’s introduction to ice hockey. Practices are held on Mondays (5:35-6:35 p.m.) and Saturdays (8:15-9:15 a.m.) at Wendell A. Barwood Arena. Online signup is available at www.uvha.org, and scholarships are available.
The UVHA also sponsors an in-house Mite program called the Be Fit League along with travel Mite hockey. Practices are Tuesdays and Thursdays (5:35-6:35 p.m.), and registrations are still being accepted.
