She was born in Cleveland, Ohio on Feb. 12, 1919 the daughter of Lindsay H. and Catharine T. (Tracy) Wallace.
She graduated from Lesley School in Cambridge and was married in 1946. Mrs. Brewster lived in White Plains, N.Y. for over 55 years before moving to New London, N.H. where she had summered all of her life.
She was a former member of The Church in the Highlands in White Plains, N.Y. and a member of The First Baptist Church of New London. She had been a member of the Westchester Hills Golf Club and golfed at Lake Sunapee Country Club in New London where she won the Ladies Championship in 1952, 1953 and 1954. Mrs. Brewster loved to do handwork including knitting and sewing. Her special interest was embroidery work and many people have lovely embroidery hangings which she gave them for 50th wedding anniversary gifts. She also enjoyed playing bridge.
She was predeceased by her husband, Evans V. Brewster and two daughters, Patsy Varley and Barbara Bayless. She was also predeceased by her siblings, Robert Wallace, Frances Sawyer, Jane Wood, Kitty Shurtleff and Phoebe Cowen.
Members of her family surviving include two daughters, Linda Flanagan of Locust Grove, Ga. and Nancy Machnig of New London, N.H.; seven grandchildren; nine great grandchildren; nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held on Friday, Oct. 28, 2016 at 10:30 a.m. in the chapel at The First Baptist Church of New London. Burial will be in West Part Cemetery, New London in the spring.
