Annabeth, adoptable from Upper Valley Humane Society
“Hi, my name is Annabeth! I’m a 2-year-old mix. I’m very smart and want to work, so please give me plenty of opportunities to use my brain. I have a lot of energy and love to play, walk, hike — you name it! I’d be a great dog to train for agility.
“I am fearful of strangers, so I’m looking for a patient owner who will let me go at my own pace in getting to know them. When I’ve warmed up to you, I will be your best friend! I’m looking for an adult-only home with dog experience.”
Annabeth is up for adoption from the Upper Valley Humane Society, located at 300 Old Route 10 in Enfield and open to the public Tuesday through Saturday, 11 a.m.-4 p.m. The Upper Valley Humane Society is also on Facebook and Instagram and can be reached at 603-448-6888.

Eevee, adoptable from Sullivan County Humane Society
“I am 6-year-old Eevee. A humane society volunteer was out hunting Pokemon late one evening and came across me. I had a wound on my neck, so concerned that I was injured, the volunteer brought me here. They give me lots of love and yummy food here, so it is not too bad, but I would like to have a home of my own.
“My neck wound has healed and I am a volunteer favorite because I am such a love! I am vet checked, spayed, vaccinated for rabies and distemper, treated for fleas and worms, microchipped and FIV/FeLV negative.”
Eevee is up for adoption from Sullivan County Humane Society, located at 145 Broad St. in Claremont. Please see hours on the humane society website at www.sullivancountyhumanesociety.org and Facebook. Call 603-542-3277 or email sullivanhumane@hotmail.com.

Starlight, adoptable from River Valley Animal Protection League
River Valley Animal Protection League is pleased to report that Starlight has made a ton of progress since her previous feature on Valley News’ Adoptable Pets page.
Starlight is a manx cat’ she was born without a tail. This breed of cat often suffers from other problems with the development of other parts of their rump area. When Starlight arrived, she was very stressed and even though it was clear that she wanted attention, she was very cranky, and would lash out seemingly at random. When other common remedies failed, Starlight visited the vet for further exams. She received a clean bill of health, leaving a possibility that nerve function abnormalities may be causing physical discomfort, and came home with a medication that might help. It did!
Starlight’s stress level is drastically reduced. She is still very vocal and likes to have “conversations” with people. She is also rather demanding about being petted, and enjoys playing with string toys. Starlight is able to jump onto and off from cat furniture with ease and confidence, and she is just doing so, so well.
She still does get a little grumpy, but it is rare and she gives fair warning these days. She will need to remain on this relatively inexpensive medicine for life and it can be a little bit difficult to get her to take it. She’s a smarty and it tastes yucky, but we have a system down that gets the job done.
A family willing to take on this responsibility will be rewarded with a loyal, loving companion.
Starlight is up for adoption from the River Valley Animal Protection League, located at 60 Cummings Ave. in Charlestown and open to the public Mondays, 4-7 p.m., and Saturdays, 1-4 p.m., or by appointment by calling 603-826-3061. The River Valley Animal Protection League is also on Facebook.

Daisy, adoptable from Lucy Mackenzie Humane Society
“Hi! My name is Daisy and I’m a 4-year-old spayed female puggle. I came to Lucy Mackenzie when my owner became very ill and could no longer properly care for me. Since being here, I’ve received much needed medical care and treatment and feel like a brand new pup! I’m playful and kind and get along really well with lots of other animals. I wouldn’t mind living with another small dog (sometimes larger dogs scare me) or with a dog-friendly cat.
“My new human friends have been really helping me learn how to be a dog. I’ve learned how to walk on a leash, how to sit and be patient, and even how to play with my toys. I’m a joyful dog and am really looking for a family or person that will treasure me as much as I know I will treasure them. If you think that you may be that somebody, stop in and meet me today.”
Daisy is up for adoption from Lucy Mackenzie Humane Society, located at 4832 Route 44 in West Windsor and open to the public Tuesday through Saturday, 12-4 p.m. Lucy Mackenzie is also on Facebook and Twitter and can be reached at 802-484-5829.
