Junior Denali Sexton scored with 20 seconds left in the first half to cut into the deficit. Colby-Sawyer (6-4-1 overall, 3-4-1 league) then rang up four more goal to beat the Hornets (5-6-0, 2-5-0) going away.
The Chargers’ four second-half goals came on their first four shots on frame. Andrew Clothier struck in the 48th minute, Eddie Garcia added another in the 50th and Sexton completed a hat trick with a penalty kick in the 52nd and a final conversion in the 54th.
Sophomore Jake Towle had three saves for Colby-Sawyer.
New London
Freshman Leah Dupuis produced her first collegiate goal and set up two more for Colby-Sawyer. Two other Chargers, Erin Mulready and Shelby Kantor, also struck twine for the first time in their careers.
Goalkeeper Oona Bond posted a three-save shutout.
Storrs, Conn.
Amanda Collins’ hat trick highlighted the big day for Connecicut. Freshman Carmen Braceras produced her team-leading sixth goal of the season and Anna Ewasechko scored her second for Dartmouth (3-8-0). The Huskies built a 6-0 lead by the early part of the second half before the Big Green broke through.
Dartmouth will look to snap its five-game losing streak when it hosts Yale in Ivy League play on Saturday.
New Haven, Conn.
Senior Jacqueline Crawford had a big tournament for Dartmouth, winning all six of her matches through the three-day draw. Crawford took a doubles victory with teammate Chuyang Guan and posted a 6-0, 6-0 decision over Stony Brook’s Devanshi Bhimjivani in singles.
Dartmouth returns to New Haven on Oct. 20 for the ITA Northeast Regional Championship.
Hanover
Junior Max Fliegner and sophomores Eddie Grabill and Joey Haig all went 3-0 in singles throughout the weekend. In doubles, Fliegner and Haig were undefeated, ending the weekend with two wins. The final day saw Big Green players go 5-1 in matches against Ivy League opponents.
The Big Green will head to Philadelphia for the ITA Northeast Regional Championship, beginning on Oct. 20.
