Boston — Semar Smith ran for three touchdowns and Joseph Viviano III threw for 229 yards and a score as Harvard won an Ivy League battle of unbeaten teams Saturday, stopping Cornell, 29-13.

The Crimson (4-0, 2-0) entered the game as the preseason favorite to win the conference, while Cornell’s three victories are more than the Big Red have amassed the previous two seasons combined.

Viviano found Anthony Firkser with a 3-yard pass less than a minute into the game to put Harvard on the board.

Dalton Banks threw a pair of touchdown passes to Ben Rogers, the first covering 41 yards in the first quarter and the second, a 29-yard strike, came with 4:10 left in the game.

Cornell (3-1, 1-1) missed the extra point attempt and Harvard recovered the Big Red onside kick.

Smith scored on runs of 4, 6 and 4 yards and finished with 71 yards on 19 carries.

Penn 28, CCSU 16

Philadelphia — Alek Torgersen threw two touchdown passes and ran for another while Tre Solomon ran for 114 yards and a score to lift Pennsylvania (2-2) past Central Connecticut State (1-3).

Princeton 31Georgetown 17

Washington — John Lovett rushed for three touchdowns and Princeton (3-1) beat Georgetown (3-2). Lovett had 60 yards on 13 carries, and completed 6 of 10 passes for 13 yards and a touchdown. Charlie Volker added 88 yards on 23 carries.

Columbia 15, Wagner 13

Staten Island, n.y. — Oren Milstein kicked five field goals to set a school record and help Columbia (1-3) battle back from a 13-3 first-half deficit and post its first win of the season.

Columbia limited the Seahawks to 277 yards of total offense and kept Wagner (3-2) out of the end zone in the second half.

Villanova 35Rhode Island 0

Villanova, Pa. — Zach Bednarczyk threw two touchdown passes, Villanova (5-1, 3-0 CAA) ran for 317 yards and three scores and the Wildcats beat Rhode Island (1-5, 0-3).

Stetson 31, Brown 21

Providence, r.i. — Cole Mazza rushed for two touchdowns and Gaven DeFilippo added another as Stetson (3-2) won its first game against an Ivy League team, beating Brown (1-3).

The Hatters forced six turnovers as they overcame Brown’s quick 14-0 lead.

UConn 20, Cincinnati 9

East Hartford, Conn. — Arkeel Newsome ran for 116 yards and Bryant Shirreffs threw for 224 yards and two touchdowns to lead UConn over Cincinnati.

Noel Thomas made nine catches for 108 yards and a touchdown as the Huskies (3-3, 1-2 American) scored 20 unanswered points and snapped a two-game losing streak.

Bucknell 21Holy Cross 20

Worcester, Mass. — Joey DeFloria ran for 149 yards on 28 carries with a touchdown, Chad Freshnock ran in the game winning score from 9 yards out late in the fourth, and Bucknell (2-3, 1-0 Patriot League) beat Holy Cross (2-4, 1-1).

Middlebury 28, Amherst 27

Middlebury, Vt. — Jared Lebowitz threw for 261 yards and three touchdowns as Middlebury (3-0) snapped Amherst’s 21-game winning streak.

Amherst had posted perfect seasons in 2014 and 2015.

Castleton 24, Mt. Ida 14

Newton, Mass. — Former Woodstock Union High player Ed Doton had a 52-yard touchdown catch as Castleton defeated Mount Ida.

Norwich 22, Becker 13

Leicester, Mass. — Quarterback Philippe Bazinet ran for a career-best 106 yards, including a 41-yard touchdown run, as Norwich (1-4) defeated Becker (2-3).

LIU Post 63, St. Anselm 20

Brookville, n.y. — David White ran for 134 yards and two TDs as LIU Post (6-0, 5-0 Northeast-10) remained undefeated with an easy victory over winless Saint Anselm (0-6, 0-5).
