Braintree, Vt. —
He was born Sept. 7, 1945, in Randolph the son of Romeo and Celia (Fortune) Morrissette.
Ron attended Randolph schools and graduated from Braintree Randolph Union High School in 1964. He then attended Vermont Technical College, earning an Associates Degree in 1966. Following his schooling he worked on the family farm eventually taking it over himself and farming until 1997. He then went to work for the U.S. Postal Service as a rural route mail carrier until his retirement in August 2016. He was married to Effie LaCount July 1, 1967, in Randolph. They later divorced. Ron was a member of Rural Vermont, Randolph Area JC’s and the National Farmers Organization. He enjoyed bowling, playing pool, tractor pulls, trains and working on cars and machinery.
He is survived by two sons: Joseph Morrissette and wife, Una of Brandon and John Morrissette of Champaign, Ill. and a daughter, Traci Morrissette and husband, Ivan Sorensen of E. Randolph; grandchildren, Anne Willcox, Abbie Williams, April Lapell-Kuni, Hazel Gregoire, Holly Bennett, Lyle Densmore, Robert Densmore, Kendra Wright, Aaron Morrissette, Travis Morrissette and Corum Sorensen; and six great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by his parents.
Graveside memorial service will be held Thursday, Oct. 6, 2016, at 10 a.m. at the Randolph Center Cemetery with Pastor Thomas Harty officiating. Calling hours will be held Wednesday evening, Oct. 5, 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Day Funeral Home.
