Hanover, N.H. —
The son of the late Charles Edward and Mildred Bessie (Stanton) Vance. Gary was a graduate from Thetford Academy class of 1962. Following his graduation he immediately enlisted in the United States Army where he would excel and acquire the rank of a Sharpshooter. After being honorably discharged from the Army he went on to be a mechanic for Decato Brothers trucking. Following Decato Brother he became a truck driver and eventually would end his working career at the River Mill Complex working in maintenance.
Gary was an avid hunter who put a lot of time in the woods perfecting his hobby. He also enjoyed fishing, and some of his children’s fondest memories were trips to Piermont Pond fishing with their dad.
He was pre deceased by his parents Charles and Mildred (Stanton) Vance, and bothers Sheldon and Keith Vance.
He is survived by his three sons; Terry, Aron and Gary Vance; his daughter Victoria Vance; sisters Linda Dresser and Shirley Picken; brothers Kermit and Edwin Vance; sister in law Barbara Vance; five grandchildren, one great grandchild and many nieces and nephews.
A graveside service will be held Thursday Sept. 29, 2016 at 11 a.m., at the Vermont Veterans cemetery in Randolph, Vt. Messages of condolence may be expressed with the family through an online guestbook by visiting www.rickerfuneralhome.com.
