Lebanon — An $8,000 grant from Lincoln Financial Foundation will support Meals on Wheels in Grafton, Merrimack and Belknap counties this year and next.

Every weekday, 1,500 frail adults across the three counties receive home-delivered meals through Grafton County Senior Citizens Council Inc. and Community Action Program Belknap-Merrimack Counties Inc., the Senior Citizens Council said in a news release. Over the course of a year, the organizations deliver approximately 375,000 meals.

In addition to a nutritious, balanced meal, the Meals on Wheels program also includes a greeting and safety check, the release said. Private support, such as that from the foundation, “is essential to keep this important daily service in place for a growing population of older adults in central and northern New Hampshire.”         — Staff report
