New Haven, Conn. —
Raymond is predeceased by his mother, Catherine Brooks and his father, Walter Brooks and Joan Brooks. Raymond leaves to cherish his memory, Sarah Miller-Brooks; sons, Michael Brooks and Raymond Brooks; daughters, Shellie Brooks-Creighton, Carrie Jo Brooks, and Nakia Hamlett; two grandsons, Marcus Creighton and Michael Brooks Jr.; and two great-grandchildren, Alexa Ayn Creighton and Kyson Lewis Creighton.
Raymond taught in New Haven and Vermont School systems and touched the lives of many students. He was a member of St. Martin De Porres Church.
A memorial service will be held in honor of Raymond on Sept. 17, 2016, from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at St. Martin De Porres Church, 136 Dixwell Ave, New Haven, CT 06511. Mr. Brooks’ family will be holding a memorial service in Vermont at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be sent to Smilow Cancer Center in New Haven.
