Tunbridge
Cole Ames and Kayleigh Trietsch achieved first-degree black belt at the test. Jeffrey Boitnott reached second-degree back belt.
The Blue Wave Association consists of 11 schools in Vermont, New Hampshire, Massachusetts and Maine. Stephen Hopkins and Linda Smith-Blais instruct at the Hanover branch.
White River Junction
Construction officially started with a ceremonial groundbreaking involving UVAC officials as well as authorities from contractor Bread Loaf Construction. The additional space will be used for a larger, family-friendly locker room with private changing suites, a new group exercise studio, expanded fitness training space and a physical therapy center.
Work will be done in phases to limit the effect on UVAC’s programs. The addition is scheduled to be open for use next May.
Lebanon
The meeting will take place at Cioffredi & Associates at 112 Etna Road in Lebanon and will begin at 6:30 p.m. The class will cover 10 weeks leading up to a 5K run later this fall. For more information, call 603-448-5122.
Sharon
The Sprouty consists of a 10-kilometer run, a 5K run/walk and a kids’ fun run. The 5K and 10K take off at 9 a.m., with the fun run following at 10:15 a.m.

West Canaan
The 5K road race and associated 3K walk will take place at Mascoma Valley Regional High School, starting at 10 a.m. The event is held in memory of Ed Kehoe, the former Mascoma High teacher and coach who died after a battle with brain cancer two years ago.
Proceeds from the event go toward a pair of causes. One is the Ed Kehoe Scholarship, which will reward a graduating Mascoma High senior who is going into an education- or athletics-related field in college. The other is the Kehoe Children Educational Fund.
Advance registration is available via a link to Mascoma Valley Parks and Recreation’s Facebook page. The cost of the race is $20, with a Sept. 13 deadline for the run and Sept. 14 for the walk. The cost increases from there to $25 through race day.
Event T-shirts are also available for $10 each.
Orford
The event operates on donations to the Rivendell Trail Association. The suggested fee is $15 for adults to participate in either a 5K or 10K trail run or 3.6-mile hike planned for the day. The event begins and ends at Rivendell Academy, with shuttle bus service to the race and hike starting locations. A free lunch from area restaurants is also provided to all participants.

Lebanon
The evening, which runs from 5-9 p.m., will bring in food, beer and wine from a variety of Upper Valley restaurants and vendors for an evening of sampling. Music, dancing and a cash bar will also be part of the event.
Proceeds from A Tasteful Evening will go toward several CCBA initiatives. The organization hopes to install push-button doors to make the facility more accessible, upgrade public Wi-Fi and start a fund to help with maintenance of the center’s tennis courts.

WRJ Post 84 Tourney
Springfield, Vt.
The tournament, to be held at Crown Point Country Club, features a 1 p.m. shotgun start. Prizes up for offer include $25,000 for a hole-in-one on the par-3 18th hole along with raffle opportunities. Proceeds from the tournament benefit a variety of causes: The Vermont Veterans Home, Upper Valley school programs, scouting programs and scholarships to boys and girls state.

Grantham
The tournament hopes to raise money that will help design, implement, staff and sustain programs that provide youth ski jumpers from the region programs to either start or extend their participation in both jumping and Nordic combined. Proceeds from the tournament will also help with funding compensation and travel expenses for NESJNC’s head coach for summer and winter competitions.
The golf tournament is set for a 1 p.m. shotgun start at Eastman (11 a.m. registration). The cost to participate is $200 per person or $600 for a foursome, which includes golf, carts, range balls, NESJNC hats and a post-tournament barbecue and awards ceremony.

Randolph
The tournament is an 18-hole scramble for four-player teams at a cost of $220. The fee includes greens fees, a post-tournament dinner and the chance to claim a variety of prizes. The tournament kicks off with a shotgun start at noon, and the dinner, awards and prizes will be handed out at 4:30 p.m.

Fairlee
Riders may choose routes of six, 21 or 30 miles, all starting in Fairlee for their respective tours. All along each route, participants will get to stop and sample fare provided by eateries around the Upper Valley such as Arianna’s Restaurant, Base Camp Cafe and Lou’s Bakery, among others.
