Poughkeepsie, N.Y. — Jane Landenberger, long time resident of New London, N.H., passed away peacefully on Friday, Aug. 26, 2016, in Poughkeepsie. Jane was born Jan. 9, 1928, in Garden City, N.Y., and attended Lasalle Junior College and the University of Maryland.

She married John Landenberger in 1952 and raised a family of four children in Tarrytown and Bedford, N.Y. In 1993 she moved to her beloved home on Messer Pond in New London, where she enjoyed the beauty and wildlife of the water, kayaking, golf, bridge, and many friends. She also devoted much of her time to raising puppies for Guiding Eyes for the Blind, and volunteered with her service dog for reading and other educational programs at local elementary schools. Jane is survived by her four children, Bruce of Newfane, Vt., Brian of Warrensburg, N.Y., Bart of Deerfield, Mass., and Betsy Wallingford of Hughsonville, N.Y. She had seven grandchildren, Conor, Gordon, James, Wolfie, Amelia, and John Landenberger and Sarah Jane Wallingford.

A gathering for remembrance will be held at the St. Andrews Episcopal Church, 52 Gould Rd., New London, between the hours of 10 a.m. and 12 noon on Saturday, Sept. 3. The family wishes, in memory of Jane’s philanthropic spirit, that any donations be sent to a charity of your choosing.
