Bethal, Vt. —
He was born April 18, 1928 in Bethel, Vt., and was a lifetime Bethel resident, where he graduated from Whitcomb High School. He was married to Sandra Bishop in Bethel in 1964, and farmed all of his life with his father and brother at Long Meadow Farm. He enjoyed fishing for pike, sugaring, bee-keeping, hunting, and trapping.
Survivors include his wife Sandra Washburn of Bethel; daughter, Mary Wrisley and husband Cam of Marshfield; sisters, Phyllis Short and husband Alex of Bethel, Ruth Karian of Framingham, Mass., Joan Sarno and husband Peter of Pekeskill, N.Y., and Beth Hatch and husband, Bruce of Lebanon, N.H. He was predeceased by his son William Washburn, brother Forrest Washburn and sister Jean Reed.
Graveside Memorial Services will be held at 12:30 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 28 at Fairview Cemetery in Bethel, with Pastor Thomas Harty, officiating. There are no calling hours. Contributions in his memory may be made to Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, 6931 Arlington Road, Bethesda, MD 20814. Arrangements are by the Day Funeral Home in Randolph.
