Buzzards Bay, Mass. —
Ken grew up in White River Junction, Vt., and attended Hartford High School. After graduation, he joined the Army was soon promoted into the Army Air Force. He served as a radar observer/navigator on B-29 aircraft in the Pacific in WWII, flying missions over Japan. After the war he was sent to the 46th Recon Squadron, Ladd Air Field, near Fairbanks, Alaska, to fly missions and map the polar region. He received the Distinguished Flying Cross for a peacetime rescue mission in the arctic, and was honorably discharged in 1947. His degree in Electrical Engineering from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in 1952 helped secure his future. He was soon hired by General Dynamics Electric Boat Division, Groton, Conn. His marriage in 1953 to Jacqueline Fisher, “the most beautiful woman with her dark hair and wonderful laugh”, gave them love, happiness and companionship. Ken provided leadership and innovative thinking on numerous projects at Electric Boat until retirement in 1987. Ken and Jackie enjoyed retirement in Sun City West, Ariz., Florida, and New England until her passing in 1999. He returned to Ledyard, Conn. in 2011 and moved to Buzzards Bay, Mass. to be near his niece, Joan, in 2016.
Ken was a member of Tau Beta Pi and Eta Kappa Nu, an Associate Member of Sigma Xi, and held a patent for a decompression monitor.
Kenneth is predeceased by his siblings Raymond, Stanley, Ethel, and Bernice (Hall) Parker. Surviving are nieces Carol Petty, Gloria Lubenow, Elaine McDaniel, Lisa Stolte, Joan Hall, and nephew John Hall.
