Boston — A new documentary examines the role the late Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis played in shaping President John F. Kennedy’s public persona.

JFK: Fact and Fable explores the steps Jackie O. took to orchestrate her slain husband’s legacy.

The stylish first lady was behind the sleek modern look of Air Force One. She also redecorated the Oval Office, giving it an elegant yet homey new feel and was responsible for creating the White House’s manicured Rose Garden.

She also played a role in molding JFK’s legacy within days of his assassination in 1963. She insisted that his funeral replicate America’s farewell to Abraham Lincoln — a dictate that seemed designed to forever link the two slain presidents in the nation’s conscience.
