Hartford, Vt. — Gerald Martin D’Aust, 67, died Wednesday, Aug. 10, 2016. He was born in Plattsburg, N.Y. to the late Roger J. & Lottie M. (Blanchard) D’Aust on Aug. 29, 1948. Gerald grew up in Moores, N.Y. and was drafted by the Army during Viet Nam where he served with the 25th Battalion receiving a Purple Heart. He was employed by Pratt Whitney, Republic Steel and later the US Postal in Storrs, Conn. He was a life time member of the VFW and enjoyed fishing, hunting and auto racing.

Gerald is survived by his two daughters; Laura A. D’Aust of Montpelier, Vt. and Brenda M. & Sidney Armour of Manchester, N.H.; two step children; Joseph D. Torza of Asford, Conn. and Jeffrey D. Torza of Manchester, Conn., five grandchildren ; Jeremy, Melanie, Joshua, Allyson, & Jacoby D’Aust, his beloved grandmother Eva Gokey and the love of his life Diana Lynn Sims of Manchester, Conn, his siblings a twin sister; Janet Mitchell of Plattsburgh, N.Y., Carolyn & Fred Trim of Morrisonville, N.Y., Ralph & Bonnie D’Aust of Plattsburgh, N.Y., Mark D’Aust of Moore, N.Y. and Kenneth & Melissa D’Aust of Morrisonville, N.Y., several aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by three siblings; Brenda D’Aust, Wayne R. D’Aust and Betty Lou.

Family and friends are invited to celebrate Gerald’s life during a Mass of Christian burial on Wednesday Aug. 17 at 10 a.m. at the Sacred Heart Church in Lebanon. Burial will follow at the N.H. Veterans Cemetery in Boscawen, N.H. at 2 p.m.
