He was born Nov. 6, 1956, in Weymouth, Mass. the son of William F. and Cynthia (Whiting) Blakeman. He attended school in Sharon, Vt. and later South Royalton, Vt. where he graduated from South Royalton High School in 1975. Following high school he worked as a carpenter and apprentice electrician before following in his father’s footsteps with the telephone company.
Brian worked 35 years for the various telephone companies as a lineman and contract work inspector, retiring from Fairpoint in 2012.
On May 28, 1988, he married Brenda Benoit of South Royalton. They lived in Sharon and were married 17 years before later divorcing.
He was a member of V.A.S.T. and the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers. He enjoyed hunting, fixing cars new or old, going to Fenway Park to see his Red Sox play, attending fairs, listening to music (Jazz and Rock-N-Roll), and local auto racing. But mostly he enjoyed people watching at all these events. He loved helping out his son at Blakeman’s Towing. Since his retirement, his main projects have been helping renovate his daughter’s home, his new apartment and his son’s office. For the last six months, the joy of his life was spending time doting on his grandson, Mason Moore almost daily. He has enjoyed watching his children become young adults and taking those first steps of home ownership, business ownership, finishing school, and becoming a parent.
He is survived by a son, Kyle Blakeman of Tunbridge; a daughter, Karina Moore, her husband Kenny, his sweet grandson, Mason Moore; and a brother, Kevin Blakeman all of Sharon; and a sister, Geraldine Davis of Whitman, Mass.
