Myrtle Beach, S.C. —  Charles R. (Dick) Handy passed away on Saturday July 16, 2016.  Dick was born in Milford Mass., the son of Charles E. and Helen Handy.  Dick married the love of his life, Pat, in June of 1957.

Dick served in the Navy; he was a graduate of Wentworth Institute.  He spent his career working for Luminiscent Systems, starting with his employment at Atkins & Merrill in Marlboro, Mass., later moving with the company to Lebanon, N.H.  Dick enjoyed his career, the traveling he did and the many, many business associates he had the pleasure of knowing and working with.

Dick retired in 1994 to travel the United States.  He and his wife, Pat, were on a mission to see every state park and to learn all there was to know about each and every historical marker they could find.  After all the traveling they settled down in Navarre, Fla.  Dick spent the last several months living in Myrtle Beach with his daughter, Paula and her husband, David.

Dick is survived by his daughter Paula and her husband David; son Charles and his wife Lisa; daughter Colleen and her husband David; and son Jay and his wife Laurie; his brothers Robert, Paul, Philip and sister Nancy and many grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Dick was predeceased by his wife, Pat and a sister, Dorothy.

At Dick’s request there will be no funeral services, he and his wife will be laid to rest in Florence National Cemetery.
