Woodstock, Vt. —
He was born Sept. 10, 1965 in Heidelberg, Germany the son of James David LaPan and Sadie Belle Miller.
He graduated from Bishop Union High School (Calif.) in 1983 and resided in California working for United Van Lines for several years before moving to Woodstock.
He worked several years for Bentley’s Restaurant in Woodstock and bonded with many people. He was a handyman and great helper for Brenda Blakeman for a number of years. He also worked several years for local painters, most recently painting for Ron Waters Painting along with his two nephews the “boys”.
Known to start up a conversation with a complete stranger and easily make friends, he loved people and enjoyed being around them.
His greatest accomplishment was being able to raise his nephews, whom he referred to as his “boys”, his love shown to them will be cherished.
He leaves his sister, Kathie Lapan of Crestline, Calif.; his nieces, Undaleigha Gomez and Destiny Gaggos also of Calif.; several great-nieces and nephews; his “boys” Jacob and Jason LaPan; and his companion, Endora LaPan all of Woodstock; and his beloved friend “Rocky” his English bull dog; and a very large extended family from Calif. to Vt. many of whom referred to him as “uncle Joe”.
A graveside service will be held on Sunday, July 31 at 1 p.m. in the Riverside Cemetery in Woodstock.
In lieu of flowers memorial Donations May be made to the Norris Cotton Cancer Center in Lebanon, N.H.
