Lebanon— A 5K “Move-A-Thon” on the Northern Rail Trail this summer will support a new alliance of local nonprofits working to improve the lives of people with special needs. The Special Needs Alliance of the Upper Valley includes Global Campuses Foundation, High Horses, the Special Needs Support Center, Spark Community Center, Visions for Creative Housing Solutions and Zack’s Place.

The event is set for Aug. 28, with sign-in from 7 to 8 a.m. outside the Upper Valley Senior Center, 10 Campbell St. It starts at 8:30 a.m. and ends with a celebration and awards at the field next to Spark, on Bank Street.

The chipped, timed event is handicap accessible, and adaptive wheelchairs are welcome, according to the registration page. The course includes sections of the rail trail and Bank Street Extension.

The cost is $25 in advance or $30 on race day. To register, go to runsignup.com and search for move-a-thon.
