White River Jct, Vt. — Suzanne Hume (nee Cochand) passed away peacefully in her 99th year on Tuesday July 12, 2016 in White River Junction, Vt.

Suzanne was one of five children born to Swiss parents who built and ran the Chalet Cochand, a well known hotel and ski resort in the 1930’s – 1960’s in the Laurentian mountains of Quebec.

Suzanne was a competitive skier in her youth. She had a wonderful sense of humor and was always happy to share stories of growing up with her siblings around the family hotel. She met and married RAF pilot and aspiring physician Mackenzie Hume of Sherbrooke, Quebec, whose medical career took her to a number of locations in the northeast.

Suzanne will be missed and fondly remembered by her sister-in-law, Babette (Pierre Cochand), her niece, Christine Cochand (Les McCurdy), their two sons, her great nephews in B.C. and the rest of her extended family.

Special thanks to the staff at Valley Terrace for their care and compassion. Arrangements will be private.
