Lebanon, N.H. — Helen Marie Wallace, 90, of Lebanon, passed away on Thursday, July 7, 2016, at Lebanon Center Genesis. Her death was 12 years to the day that her beloved husband Richard passed. Helen was born Oct. 11, 1925, in Mena, Ark. to Overton Bettis & Alice (Williams) Alston. On Oct. 8, 1944, she married Richard Griggs Wallace in San Antonio, Texas and returned to Richard’s hometown, Lebanon, at the end of WWII. Helen was a stay at home mom and later worked at the Hanover Inn, First National Bank of Lebanon and Granite State Electric. In 1973, Helen became the first female electric meter reader in Granite State Electric’s history and retired from this position in December, 1987.

Helen took much joy in family and spending time with her children and grandchildren, attending her grandchildren’s events and sports, going for walks and reading.

Helen was predeceased by her parents, her husband, her brother Maurice Alston, and a son-in-law, Walt Lewis. She is survived by her brother, John Alston and wife, Mildred of Little Rock, Ark.; her five children, Dottie Heintzelman and her husband, Gary of Bloxom, Va., Deb Hill and her husband, Barney of Biddeford, Maine, Deena Lewis of Berlin, Md., Sue DeHavens and husband, Bud of Gilbert, Ariz., and Rich Wallace and wife, Kelly of Springfield, N.H.; her nine grandchildren: Erich Heintzelman, Jason Heintzelman, Sarah Lewis, Maresi Laverriere, Kayleigh Held, Phillip Colt, Shelly DeHavens, Allison Tibbetts, Brittney Wallace; and 14 great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
