White River Junction — Great pitching and timely hitting lifted the White River Junction Post 84 American Legion senior baseball team to a doubleheader sweep of Brattleboro on Saturday at Maxfield Sports Complex.

Post 84 won game 1, 1-0, behind Hunter Perkins’ two-hitter. He struck out 11 batters and walked one. Perkins added two hits at the plate and scored the game’s only run in the first inning on the first of Cody Smith’s two singles.

White River Junction took the second game, 3-2. Post 84 snapped a 2-all tie in the fourth on Ryland Richardson’s successful bases-loaded squeeze bunt on a pitch outside the strike zone, coach Jarrod Grassi said.

Tyler Hamilton had two hits and two runs for Post 84, while Steve Cerrone allowed five hits and two runs, one earned, over 5 innings. Jordy Allard tossed 1 hitless innings in relief.
