It’s the last week of Adopt a Shelter Cat Month and we’re closing it out with Tigey!
“Hi! I’m Tigey, and I’m a very sweet boy. I’m very shy, so meeting new people takes a lot of courage for me. Although I’m shy, I really love attention. In fact, I love it so much I even sometimes drool!
“I’m not into my toys very much but that’s because I’d rather be petted by you. I’ve done very well with other cats I’ve met here, and need to go to a home that has a feline friend or two. I may also do well with dogs and older children pending introductions.”
Tigey is up for adoption from the Upper Valley Humane Society, located at 300 Old Route 10 in Enfield and open to the public Tuesday through Saturday, 11 a.m.-4 p.m. The Upper Valley Humane Society is also on Facebook and Instagram and can be reached at 603-448-6888.

Potter’s Angels? How about Potter’s Giants! Here’s Jack, a beautiful, 90-pound lab/retriever/pit mix who’s 3 years old and ready for action. Jack is a medium-energy boy. He loves his exercise; however, his foster mom says that he can be left alone in the house outside of a crate without getting into trouble. As with most big boys, though, he could use some consistent walking, running or hiking to fulfill his needs.
Jack is eager to please and very affectionate. He has even learned to balance a treat on his nose and catch it. You might hear him give a whine or two as he waits, but who can blame him? He needs some fuel to keep that big body moving! He is neutered, house-trained, trained to an electric fence and even has a few other tricks up his sleeve. He will sit, shake a paw and lie down on command. He does love his Kong and his bones, and will settle down for a good chew when he’s ready to chill.
Jack could use some work walking on a leash without pulling. Potter’s would recommend that he be trained to walk with a head harness, since he is such a strong guy.
Although Jack is friendly with all people he meets we are looking for a home without young children due to his size. His foster mom says that Jack is friendly toward other dogs and has a playmate his size who he loves to play hard with. However, he thinks cats were made for chasing so no cats for Jack! He can get distracted by strangers, she says, but we think that with his great size and beautiful face, he might distract a few strangers himself. If you are a lover of big dogs, Jack might be just the companion for you.
Jack is up for adoption from Potter’s Angels Rescue, based in East Randolph. Submit an application here. Potter’s Angels is also on Facebook.

“Hi! My name is Melody and I’m a 10-year-old spayed female. I came to Lucy Mackenzie after my owner died.
“Although things have gone really well here and I’ve received some much needed medical attention, I can’t wait to find a new home of my own. I’m prone to becoming incredibly stressed, which has lead to lots of fur loss. You can’t tell from my photo, which is rather cute, but I’ve managed to remove almost all my back fur. Things would be easier in a more quiet household where I was probably the only cat.
“I love pets and attention, playing and treats. I love my naps and long for a nice spot of sun to be able to lounge in without a worry in the world. If you have room in your home and heart from a senior cat that is really in need of a break, stop in and meet me today!”
Melody is up for adoption from Lucy Mackenzie Humane Society, located at 4832 Route 44 in West Windsor and open to the public Tuesday through Saturday, 12-4 p.m. Lucy Mackenzie is also on Facebook and Twitter and can be reached at 802-484-5829.

“I am 3-year-old Oscar. I was making frequent visits to someone’s porch over the last month. He asked around and no one knew me so he finally caught me and brought me here.
“I was a little scared at first but then realized this place is cool — I get lots of treats and even more love. I now want a family of my own. However, I am shy so please be patient with me and understand that I need a quiet home.
“I am vet checked, neutered, vaccinated for rabies and distemper, treated for fleas and worms, microchipped and FIV/FeLV negative.”
Oscar is up for adoption from Sullivan County Humane Society, located at 145 Broad St. in Claremont. Please see hours on the humane society website at www.sullivancountyhumanesociety.org and Facebook. Call 603-542-3277 or email sullivanhumane@hotmail.com.
