“I am 10-month-old Tara. I am a sweet girl but was born with a condition known as cerebellar hypoplasia, also known as ‘wobbly cat’ syndrome. This condition is not contagious or progressive. I just have poor coordination because my cerebellum did not fully develop making fine motor skills difficult for me. But I do fine just as I am!
“To keep me safe, I should not have stairs or a lot of high surfaces to climb on, because I will try and could easily fall. I will also do best with carpeting so I can grip it to help maintain my balance. I would do best in a quiet home with no other pets or very calm pets.
“I am vet checked, spayed, vaccinated for rabies and distemper, treated for fleas and worms, microchipped and FIV/FeLV negative.”
Tara is up for adoption from Sullivan County Humane Society, located at 145 Broad St. in Claremont. Please see hours on the humane society website at www.sullivancountyhumanesociety.org and Facebook. Call 603-542-3277 or email sullivanhumane@hotmail.com.

“Hi! I’m Avalon, but you can call me Ava. I may be a big girl, but don’t let my looks deceive you — I’m very sweet and gentle!
“I’m a cat who prefers to keep all four feet on the ground, but I love being petted. I’d like a home where I can spend my time sitting by the window watching birds, and would love it if my new owner would spend time to brush me (I love being brushed).
“Since I’m a quiet cat, I would prefer to live in a home where I can be your only pet.”
Avalon is up for adoption from the Upper Valley Humane Society, located at 300 Old Route 10 in Enfield and open to the public Tuesday through Saturday, 11 a.m.-4 p.m. The Upper Valley Humane Society is also on Facebook and Instagram and can be reached at 603-448-6888.

Sometimes people decide to get a kitten, without really considering what they may be getting into. We all love how cute they are, but sometimes we forget that kittens are much like human children in that they like to run, jump, play and get into trouble when you aren’t looking. They don’t always want to cuddle when we do, they don’t pose quietly for cute pictures, they will climb your legs when you have shorts on and want to play when you’re trying to watch TV.
Rascal is a young cat given up twice now from homes that didn’t expect her to be … well, a rascal. Upon her recent return it is clear that she has regressed somewhat because she hesitates to approach people for affection and doesn’t enjoy being held as she used to do.
The pattern suggests that Rascal needs daily attention to help keep her happy and healthy. She needs to play, perhaps with help to keep her focused on acceptable forms of play. She needs petting, holding and brushing every day to let her know that she is wanted and she is loved … and that you would rather do those things than playing a game of catch-me-while-I-climb-the-drapes.
Rascal is a great cat. She has been a favorite at River Valley Animal Protection League to take to events for her even temperament and friendliness. She has a good track record with children and other cats. Any family willing to spend time with her and encourage her best behavior will be very lucky to have her. Come in to meet her and learn more about her history and her needs.
Rascal is up for adoption from the River Valley Animal Protection League, located at 60 Cummings Ave. in Charlestown and open to the public Mondays, 4-7 p.m., and Saturdays, 1-4 p.m., or by appointment by calling 603-826-3061. The River Valley Animal Protection League is also on Facebook.

“Hi! My name’s Bows and I’m an 8-year-old spayed female. I was adopted and, sadly, returned. It’s OK, though. It just means I haven’t found my perfect home — yet.
“I may not come rushing out to meet you when you first enter the room, but once I get to know you, it’s all over! I love pets and scratches, and my favorite thing is finding the perfect perch to cuddle-up on. I absolutely love other cats and would adore a kitty companion.
“I haven’t always had the easiest life and really just want to find a great, loving home to call my own. If you could provide that, and a few sunny perches, stop in and meet me today!”
Bows is up for adoption from Lucy Mackenzie Humane Society, located at 4832 Route 44 in West Windsor and open to the public Tuesday through Saturday, 12-4 p.m. Lucy Mackenzie is also on Facebook and Twitter and can be reached at 802-484-5829.
This is Sid, and he is spirited, spunky, a bit impetuous and delightful!
Sid is a mixed-breed guy who weighs about 30 pounds and is neutered, up to date with vaccines and micro-chipped. Sid is high-energy, crate-trained, house-trained and working on his leash skills.
Sid is affectionate with people, but has not been around kids since coming to Vermont so we are not entirely sure how he is with them. He is playful and puppy-like; he gets along with other dogs and even eats with his foster family.
Sid can be a little strong willed but will generally comply with requests if he thinks there will be a reward. His foster family is doing some training with him but he will need a family that can continue to guide his behavior. He is non-destructive and is able to entertain himself outside with a stick.
Sid is adorably cute and full of personality. He will snuggle and grind his head in to get as close as possible. He is curious and happy — and he can even smile! He is generally quiet and will only bark when someone comes to the door or he hears something suspicious. He has a prance in his step and is sure to bring a smile to your face and joy to your heart.
Sid is up for adoption from Potter’s Angels Rescue, based in East Randolph. Submit an application here. Potter’s Angels is also on Facebook.
