The Stevens High graduate limited Laconia Post 1 to three hits and struck out 14 as Post 22 began the senior New Hampshire American Legion baseball season with a 3-1 win at Memorial Field.
Post 22 (1-0) backed Hussey with an eight-hit attack. Hussey rejoined Lebanon this summer after throwing in five games, all in relief, as a freshman with the UMass-Dartmouth baseball team this spring.
Lebanon plays a home-away-from-home game against Manchester’s Sweeney Post on Saturday at 1:30 p.m. at Colby-Sawyer College. Post 22 entertains Goffstown Post 16 in its first Lebanon High School home game on Sunday.

Brandon Gaudet took the loss for Post 84, going three innings on the mound. Codi Smith had two hits and drove in a run for Hartford, which also picked up an RBI from Hunter Perkins.
Post 84 heads south for the two-day Connecticut Wood Bat Invitational Tournament in South Windsor, Conn., this weekend.
Hanover
Anthony Fahden, a 2008 graduate, and Josh Konieczny, who graduated in 2013, will be the first former Big Green rowers to race in the Olympics as members of the American team since 2000. Fahden will compete in the four, while Konieczny has a spot in double sculls. Dartmouth’s last Olympic rowing representative was Canada’s Dominic Steele, a member of the Class of 1997, at the 2008 Games in Beijing.
Fahden earned a spot by finishing third at the World Rowing Cup in Italy earlier this year. Rio will be his second Olympics, having competed for the U.S. in London four years ago.
Teaming with Andrew Campbell Jr., Konieczny won double sculls at the U.S. Olympic Trials in Florida in April to earn their spots in Brazil.
