Newport, N.H. — Fredrik “Fred” Peyron, 92, passed away peacefully in his home in Newport in the afternoon of Thursday, June 9, 2016. Born in Stockholm, Sweden on Sept. 8, 1923, Fredrik was a graduate of the Stockholm School of Economics. He came to the United States in 1950 to attend a six month course in hardwood lumber grading in Memphis, Tenn. and stayed in the U.S. for the remainder of his life. He married Gertrud (Trudy) Peyron, also from Sweden, in 1951, and moved to Worcester, Mass. to start their family where they were blessed with two children Elisabeth and Ted. Fred’s business brought the Peyron Family to Claremont, N.H. in 1960 and later to Madison, N.H. where he was the owner/operator of the New England Lumber Company.

Fred spent his senior years passionately serving his community and engaging with many local organizations. He was an active member of Free Masonary serving several terms as Master of his lodge, served three terms as a N.H. State Representative, volunteered with the police department, a past member of Corbins Park, and the Lake Sunapee Yacht Club.

Fred is survived by his wife, Trudy; and two children, Ted and Elisabeth. He was Farfar to his granddaughter, Sarah Murphy, and one great-granddaughter, Sloane Peyron Murphy. He is predeceased by his father, Victor Oscar Knut Gustaf Peyron, mother, Dagmar Christina Peyron, sister, Christina Peyron and brother, Carl Gustaf Peyron.

A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. on Sunday, July 10 at the First Congregational Church, 29 Croydon Turnpike, Croydon, N.H.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be sent to Hiram Lodge #9, 40 Maple Ave, Claremont, NH 03743 to be used for various community projects.
