Prison Employee Cited
For Sex Misconduct
Springfield, Vt.
Police say they were contacted by the state Department of Corrections in February regarding alleged sexual misconduct between 39-year-old Rebecca Parker, a dialysis nurse at the Springfield, Vt., prison, and an inmate, according to a Vermont State Police news release.
An investigation turned up several emails and recorded phone calls between Parker and the inmate, the release said.
The alleged sexual misconduct took place at the jail on more than one occasion, Detective Sgt. Tyson Kenney, who authored the news release, said by phone on Monday.
The inmate’s name is being withheld because of the “sensitive nature” of the investigation, according to the release.
Parker, who faces one felony count of sexual exploitation of an inmate, will appear on July 12 in Windsor Superior Court. She remains out on conditions of release.
If convicted, Parker faces up to five years in prison or $10,000 in fines, or both.

Enfield Police Chief Richard Crate identified the man as Brian Hart, 51, of Orford.
Hart’s cause and manner of death haven’t been released. The results of an autopsy are pending, Crate said.
“There is no obvious cause of death,” he said. Foul play has been ruled out, according to police.
Crate said Hart has family members in Enfield.
Three cyclists found Hart in a ditch near the Grafton town line on Thursday evening. Crate previously said Hart might have had an underlying medical condition that contributed to his death.
