The Enfield runner won his fifth straight CBHM on Sunday, this time in the rain, and now has six race wins to his credit since 2008 in the 13.1-mile jaunt between Pomfret and Quechee.
Smith, 46, established his lead early on Lebanon’s Harrison Little and stretched it out the rest of the way, winning in a time of 1 hour, 16 minutes, 34 seconds. Smith was the only runner in the field to post splits below 6 minutes per mile.
Lebanon’s Harrison Little, 30, took second in 1:19.00. Windsor’s Phoebe Novello, 22, was right behind in third in 1:19:48 to win the women’s title, with Hanover’s Adam Groff and Derek Dunning, of Northfield, Vt., filling out the top five.
