Lebanon — The Zoning Board voted late Monday night to approve a proposed expansion of the James W. Campion Rink along Route 10.

The 4-1 decision granting three variances and a special exception allows the project to next seek wetlands permits and approval from the Lebanon Planning Board, which are required before construction can begin.

Rink officials say the expansion to a two-rink complex will alleviate the demand for ice time in the Upper Valley. Some neighbors opposed the project, however, saying increased use would create more noise and light pollution.
